Garena announced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in May 2012, which is a six-month professional gaming competition that features more than 100 live matches. GPL's inaugural season features six teams comprised of professionals League of Legends players. The teams are made up of the top players from their nations. In January of 2013, Garena revealed the second seasons of Garena Premier League, which would start on 4 January 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan and Vietnam which brings the number of teams to eight. They include AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) and Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) as well as Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. Garena's eSports Stadium, which is a venue dedicated to esports in the Neihu District Taipei, opened on the 14th of November on the 14th of November, 2014. The stadium was constructed partially to accommodate the beginning of the League of Legends Masters Series, the top-level Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as the Macau LoL league that was a an offshoot of the GPL. Garena launched in the Iron Solari League in January 2015. It's the League of Legends women's tournament located within the Philippines. The event takes place in the second week of every month. The purpose of the event is to encourage participation in minorities, and is open to anyone who self-identifies as a woman. Besides competitive tournaments, Garena also organizes events to cater to users who want to connect and meet offline.
